The Summer Science Program (SSP) is a five week intensive summer program designed for incoming freshman students from disadvantaged backgrounds passionate about the sciences or want to explore the sciences here at Williams. SSP students take courses in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and other STEM fields taught by faculty members who are leaders in their respective fields. In addition to academics, SSP students enjoy a world of fun engaging and exploring Williams with other students; trips are planned to various locations around Williams to learn and have fun! Students do not have to major in science at Williams if you do SSP Summer. After the five week summer program, students join the SSP Alumni world where they make lifelong friendships, career building connections, and networking opportunities with other students who have gone into all sorts of fields.
Students are eligible for the Summer Science Program if they are incoming first year students planning to enroll in the fall semester of the year that SSP takes place. Students who are low income or of a minority that has been historically underrepresented and disadvantaged will be given preference in the application cycle.
SSP 2021’s application season has not yet opened. Please stay on the lookout for more information as this page will be updated throughout the upcoming year. Applications in a given application cycle are usually due in mid to late spring.
If you have any questions or comments, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Professor Chris Goh, Director of SSP!
